捷藍航空證實，伊凡卡與夫婿庫許納和3名子女搭乘了這班飛機，當時乘客仍陸續登機，突然一名男性乘客看到伊凡卡坐在他的前面，激動地對著她說：「你父親正在搞垮這個國家！」接著提高音調質問：「她為什麼會搭我們的班機？她應該搭私人飛機。」

班機飛抵舊金山後，伊凡卡一家人搭上了特勤局安排在停機坪的車輛，前往附近機場轉搭私人專機，飛往夏威夷度假。據報導，專機顯然是事前就安排好的，而非因伊凡卡遭乘客嗆聲而臨時改變計畫。

到底高德斯坦見到伊凡卡後，其反應是否過當？有另外一位目擊者表示，當時就坐在伊凡卡前排座位的謝夫（Marc Scheff）說，該男子沒有「大呼小叫」，但「顯然很激動」。他的同性伴侶很冷靜，他們的兒子很可愛且穿著很有型。

捷藍航空事後發表聲明，稱機組人員不會任意趕乘客下飛機，除非機員判斷乘客在機上會引發衝突，升高飛安風險。而公司事後也安排了高德斯坦和他的同志丈夫與孩子搭乘下一班班機飛抵舊金山。負責維護第一家庭安全的特勤局人員也陪同伊凡卡一家5口在機上，但沒介入，而由航空公司自行處理此事。
